Windows on the World, despite the fact that it takes place in the weeks following the 9/11 terrorist attack in New York, is a film that is urgently for our time. It is a hero's journey of a son trying to find his father in that grief-stricken landscape and the characters stand in for the millions of immigrants, legal and illegal, who contribute in their everyday lives, to the American landscape. The film seeks to counter the narrative that's all-too-prevalent in today's political and media landscape by telling a story set in America's biggest and most diverse city, at its darkest time. The script by playwright and novelist Robert Mailer Anderson (who also produced the film) is wise and completely engaging; he creates indelible characters who are ultimately inspiring and uplifting. Edward James Olmos gives what he considers to be the performance of a lifetime, and the rest of the cast is terrific as well-with a special shout-out to Glynn Turman. The direction, by Olmos's son Michael, is sure-handed, getting terrific performances from his cast, including his father, in this father-son story, and it's beautifully lensed. The music, including jazz and a title track written by Anderson, is pitch-perfect, supporting the story without getting in the way. This film should be seen by everybody-and I'm sure it will be in mainstream distribution soon, as this is a time when, although the major studios may have turned their backs on substance, terrific indie films like this one have many other possible venues. If you can't see it at a film festival, like I did, keep a keen eye out for it. Terrific and inspiring.

Your offering of a foundational position gave me quite different image than sitting down here training your rat army. Is this my bath week? I've lost track what with all the CO2 down here.

This was during the same time I was in New York.  Although I was 8 going on 9 and with my family on a vacation.  We went up into the crown of the Statue of Liberty, but I don't think we saw much if anything of the actual city.

No todos los funcionarios van al cielo

Desde la publicación del BOJA del mes de agosto del 2008 en las que suprimian todas la categorías de Mantenimiento del SAS ha llovido poco, pero ya se va viendo cada vez más claro las intenciones de las diversas partes que intervienen en el proceso de negociación en la mesa; la que decide sobre el futuro del mantenimiento de toda Andalucia.

Si en un momento dado la intención de los sindicatos era mejorar el sueldo de los trabajadores y garantizar su continuidad, consiguiendo que estos aportaran su FP 2 o equivalente para subirles a la siguiente categoría profesional. Por parte de la Administración la intención más bien parecía que ya que habían privatizado en parte, necesitaban personal que hicieran "cuatro cosillas" para mantener los hospitales y el grueso las empresas privadas.

Tras el primer acuerdo que estamos viendo, también estamos viendo el futuro de los Mantenimientos en Andalucia en lo que hospitales se refiere. Todos los que son fijos pasarán en un lapso de tiempo muy próximo al grupo C deseado teniendo o no el título de FP2 o equivalente. Ya se verá si es un regalo envenenado o no. Porque parece que el personal fijo se esta fijando principalmente en la cuestión monetaria. Cosa que teniendo los sueldos tan reducidos, tiene su justificación.

Todo tiene su lógica y el lado oscuro de momento, parece que los contratados interinos de diversas situaciones parecen quedarse....de momento. Sin embargo, los que no cumplen la condición ven que su continuidad en el SAS es mucho más que discutible. En otras palabras, es la situación idonea para conseguir que una vez que todos los interinos tengan una plaza provisional y nadie venga detrás para ofrecer sus servicios, es el momento idoneo para privatizar. Porque no nos engañemos todos los nombramientos o contratos de interino tienen una clausula que dice muy claramente .."o hasta que su puesto se amortize o no sea necesario". Si privatizamos no será nadie necesario. Me temo que también algunos fijos que tenían en mente que sus hijos siguieran algún día sus pasos. Cosa que no será posible dado que esos puestos dejarán de existir.

Sí causa sorpresa saber ahora que todas las bolsas, incluso las no publicadas van a ser omitidas y se va a crear una nueva para nueva titulación de: Técnico Especialista en Mantenimiento de Edificios e Instalaciones Industriales y Técnico de Mantenimiento -Obras de Albañilería, Acabados de Construcción y Madera y Mueble-. A ver quien es el guapo que tiene la titulación de Tec. Esp. en Mantenimiento de Edif. e Inst. Indust., porque que yo sepa sólo hay escuelas en Sevilla y Málaga, tal vez hemos de suponer que las demás provincias andaluzas se privatizan directamente, porque no hay escuelas y por los sueldos que ofrecen no creo que haya muchos trabajadores que emiguen a las provincias que no tengan esa titulación en institutos. Ya digo la situación de privatización idonea. Si no hay trabajadores, pues privaticemos de una vez y total para dos provincias que puedes seguir, pues ya para eso mejor privatizamos todo.
